Blake Tyner comes by his love of history naturally.
A descendant of some of the earliest colonial settlers of North
Carolina, he grew up with a love of history that has propelled
him to delve into the records and archives of North Carolina
from an early age.
He holds a Masters of Library Science with a specailization
in archives. He is a graduate of UNCP with a history degree,
while a student there his undergraduate historical research
has led to the publication of Images of America: Robeson County
and Robeson County in Vintage Postcards (both have won the North
Carolina Society of Historians Willie Parker Peace Historical
Book awards). His first book Goin' for a Soldier won the North
Carolina Society of Historians Willie Parker Peace Historical
Book award in 2000.
He pursues his avocation as the Curator of the Robeson
County History Museum. He has been elected a Fellow of the
Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and is former President of
the Society of North Carolina
Archivists. Blake is married to the former Bess Hubbard
and they have a son.
