Social and Community Events

Social and Community events have been held along the Lumber River since before the county was even formed from Bladen, Robesonians are drawn to water be it
the river or a fishing pond. A rich source of hunting was quickly found in the woods and swamps of the county. Many important celebrations have been held in the county form the centennials of Lumberton and Maxton to the fiftieth anniversary of Rowland and who can forget the 1987 bicentennial celebration of the county itself.

Wishart, and shows what could have been the "Kitty B" which was known to
travel the waters of the Lumber River. This 60 foot, flat bottom square-ender
more than likely was used to handle logs down the river during the week and
