Robeson Lost – Hoke County

Hotel Raeford. Built as the Bluemont Hotel in 1927, the name was later changed to Raeford Hotel. In the 1960s the building was converted to apartments with business located on the ground floor that included a barber shop, beauty parlor and doctor's office. The building was located at the intersection of Main Street and Highway 20 and had after being abandoned for about fifteen years was demolished April 29, 2005 as part of the revitalization of downtown Raeford.

 

Antioch Presbyterian Church. When the northern part of Robeson County was lost in 1911 to form part of the Hoke County , the 99th North Carolina county, the historical Antioch Presbyterian Church between Red Springs and Raeford was in that portion. The organizers of this church first meet at McPhaul's Mill until their building could be constructed. Rev. Hector McLean served as Antioch's first pastor.
